The album unfolds with tracks like “You Gotta Give It Up” and “The Magic Is You,” presenting a refined blend of groove and subtle instrumental interplay that stands apart from Davis’s more disco-driven work. It’s the kind of record that invites you to lean in rather than just fill the room, rewarding attention to its nuanced rhythms and melodies. This 1977 pressing brings that clarity to vinyl, housed in a format that suits collectors and listeners who appreciate a well-crafted session group. The record itself is graded VG+, indicating it has been played but remains in strong condition with only minor surface marks that won’t overshadow the music. Few albums ask you to give them quite this much ear time, and this copy is ready to make a spot on your shelf where it can quietly charm without demanding the spotlight.

Track listing & samples

John Davis And The Monster Orchestra - Up Jumped The Devil

Side A

Up Jumped The Devil

We Can Fly

You Gotta Give It Up

Once Upon A Time

Side B

The Magic Is You

You're The One

Recapitulation

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0694/9932/2684/files/LmpwZWc_00f0db7d-42e0-457e-a3c7-b68ab8ce5c3a.jpg?v=1791059656
