The presence of Teena Marie and Levi Ruffin Jr. enriches the mix, making the record a showcase of tight musicianship and charismatic performance. It’s a record that slices through the early ’80s funk scene with a confident stride, offering a mix of dancefloor energy and pointed social commentary. This 1981 vinyl pressing brings that classic energy to your turntable in a format that suits focused listening sessions. The record shows visible signs of wear typical of its age, which may introduce some background noise but remains fully playable. The grooves hold the unmistakable pulse of Rick James’s production, engineered and mixed with care by Bobby Brooks and Tom Flye. For anyone wanting to explore the textures behind "Fire And Desire" or the layered handclaps on "Make Love To Me," this pressing places you right in the groove. If your collection is looking for a funk record with a little history in its cracks, this does the job without demanding a spot in the mint cabinet.

Listen / sample

Rick James - Street Songs
