Tracks like "Destroyer" and the title song "Give The People What They Want" showcase the band’s knack for incisive social commentary wrapped in punchy arrangements—no surprise given Ray Davies' knack for observing the quirks of everyday life. The album’s compact ensemble leans into a stripped-down, focused sound that highlights the group’s seasoned songwriting and solid musicianship without unnecessary frills. This 1981 pressing presents the album on vinyl with a clarity that suits its straightforward style. The record is graded VG++, meaning it has a glossy surface with only minor, light signs of use that won’t distract from playback. For collectors or listeners after a clean copy that reflects the era’s production values, this pressing offers a reliable way to experience the Kinks’ mid-career perspective. It’s a record that seems to ask for a spot just shy of the front row, where you can catch the details without being overwhelmed—a fitting place for a band still sharpening their voice after nearly two decades of recording.

Track listing & samples

The Kinks - Give the People What They Want

Side A

Around The Dial

Give The People What They Want

Killers Eyes

Predictable

Add It Up

Side B

Destroyer

Yo-Yo

Back To Front

Art Lover

A Little Bit Of Abuse

Better Things
