The Den FAQ

The Den is a small independent record shop in New Hope, PA. Most of what we sell is one-of-a-kind vinyl, so we try to make everything clear and easy before you check out. If you can’t find what you need here, send us a message or call the shop at 215-693-1005 during business hours.

Condition & Grading

Are your records new or used?

Most records at The Den are vintage and pre-owned unless clearly marked as sealed or new. Every record is cleaned and inspected before it ships.

How do you grade vinyl condition?

We grade conservatively using standard vinyl grading (Mint, Near Mint, VG+, VG, etc.). If there’s anything notable—surface marks, sleeve wear, or other details—we call it out in the listing.

Do you clean records before shipping?

Yes. Every record is cleaned and double sleeved before shipping.

Do you play-test records?

We play-test (and sonic clean) rare, expensive, or questionable-looking records. Most other records are carefully visually graded—always with a “better safe than sorry” mindset.

What if I think a record was misgraded?

Reach out. We try our best to grade conservatively, but if something isn’t as described, contact us and we’ll make it better.


Shipping & Packaging

How fast do you ship?

We ship within 1–2 business days at most, and we try hard to ship next day whenever possible.

Who do you ship with?

USPS.

How are records packaged?

Records ship in proper LP mailers with padding to protect corners. When appropriate, we remove the record from the outer sleeve to help prevent seam splits in transit.

Do you ship internationally?

Not at this time—sorry! We’re keeping it simple so we can focus on fast, safe shipping inside the U.S.


Returns & Issues

Do you accept returns?

Yes—returns are accepted within 14 days after delivery for the cases below.

Returns accepted for:

  • Items damaged in transit
  • Incorrect items sent
  • Defective new pressings (skips, warps, manufacturing defects)

Returns NOT accepted for:

  • Opened new vinyl (unless it’s defective)
  • Vintage vinyl records (unless misgraded)

What if my order arrives damaged?

Please contact us right away and include a few photos of the packaging and the damage. We’ll sort it out quickly.

What if there’s a playback issue?

If you think something was misgraded or not as described, reach out. We’ll work with you to make it right.


New Arrivals & Artist Alerts

How do I get notified about new arrivals?

Use the signup form on our homepage to get one email whenever new inventory is added—usually 1–3 times per week. Some weeks we add nothing. Other weeks we might add 4 times. Nothing outrageous. We don’t want to spam anyone.

Can I get alerts for specific artists?

Yes. If you prefer artist-by-artist alerts, head to our Artist Index and subscribe to the artists you collect.

Can I unsubscribe?

Absolutely. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out anytime.

Will you ever use my email address for anything else?

No. Never. We will not send you emails you didn’t sign up for, and we will never share or sell your contact information to anyone. Ever.

Yes—always. If you’ve got records you’re thinking about selling, send us a message with what you have. We’ve had people ship us full collections from across the country. We pay the best and fairest prices we can.
