A Tribe Called Quest emerged from Queens, New York City, in 1985, featuring members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White. As pioneers of alternative hip hop and jazz rap, they made a significant impact on the genre with their innovative sound. Their debut album, "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm," dropped in 1990, followed by the influential "The Low End Theory" in 1991, which helped define 1990s alternative hip hop. The group is known for several notable tracks, including "Can I Kick It?" and "Electric Relaxation." After a long hiatus, they released their final studio album, "We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service," in 2016. A Tribe Called Quest's contributions to music were recognized with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024, and they were honored with the Founders Award at the 2005 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.
