Bread emerged from Los Angeles, California, as a prominent American soft rock band during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Led by David Gates, who showcased his talents on vocals and multiple instruments, the band included notable members Jimmy Griffin and Robb Royer. Their self-titled debut album was released in September 1969, paving the way for a series of hits, including their chart-topping single "Make It with You," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970. Over the years, Bread achieved a total of 13 songs that charted on the same list. Although the band disbanded in 1973, they made a notable comeback in 1976, further solidifying their legacy. In recognition of their impact on music, Bread was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006. Their memorable tracks, such as "Everything I Own," "Aubrey," and "Diary," continue to resonate with fans of soft rock.
