Brick emerged from Atlanta in 1972, blending funk and jazz to create a unique sound they called "dazz." The band, led by Regi Hargis and comprised of members from both disco and jazz backgrounds, gained significant popularity during the 1970s. Their biggest hit, "Dazz," reached #3 on the U.S. Pop chart and topped the U.S. R&B chart, showcasing their innovative approach to music. They released their first single, "Music Matic," in 1976 and continued to produce records for Bang Records until 1982, with "Sweat (Til You Get Wet)" marking their last Top Ten R&B success in 1981. Among the notable members of Brick were Jimmy Brown, Billy Barlow, Tres Gilbert, Melvin Baldwin, Tomi Martin, and Sherita Murphy. Other well-known tracks include "That's What It's All About," "Dusic," and "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody," all of which contributed to the band's legacy in the funk and jazz fusion genre.
