Alice Coltrane, born on August 27, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, was a multifaceted jazz musician renowned for her skills as a pianist and harpist. She made significant contributions to the genre of spiritual jazz, becoming one of the few harpists to leave a lasting mark in jazz history. Alice was married to the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane from 1965 until his untimely death in 1967. In her career, she released several influential albums, with "Translinear Light" being her final work, released in 2004. Beyond her musical achievements, Coltrane was deeply involved in spiritual pursuits, founding the Vedantic Center in 1975 and establishing the Shanti Anantam ashram in 1983. Her notable works include classic tracks like "Journey in Satchidananda" and "A Love Supreme," showcasing her unique blend of jazz and spirituality. Alice Coltrane passed away on January 12, 2007, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to inspire many.
