Dave Edmunds, born on April 15, 1944, in Cardiff, Wales, is a retired singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer known for his contributions to pub rock and new wave music. He gained early fame as a member of Love Sculpture, which achieved a top 5 hit with the instrumental track "Sabre Dance" in 1968. Edmunds solidified his popularity with the Christmas classic "I Hear You Knocking," a single released in 1970 that sold over three million copies and earned gold certification. In 1976, he formed the band Rockpile alongside notable musicians Nick Lowe, Billy Bremner, and Terry Williams, further showcasing his versatility. Throughout his career, Edmunds released several memorable songs, including "Queen of Hearts" and "Slipping Away," the latter reaching the US Top 40 in 1983. After a successful run in the music industry, he recorded less frequently after the mid-1980s and eventually retired from performing following a final show in July 2017.
