Nick Drake, born on June 19, 1948, in England, was a talented singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist known for his introspective lyrics and unique sound. He signed with Island Records at just twenty and released three influential albums: "Five Leaves Left" in 1969, "Bryter Layter" in 1971, and "Pink Moon" in 1972. Despite his musical talent, Drake struggled with depression and was often reluctant to perform live, which limited his exposure during his lifetime. He passed away on November 25, 1974, at the young age of 26 due to an overdose of antidepressants. It was only after his death that his music gained significant recognition, particularly following the release of the retrospective collection "Fruit Tree" in 1979. Today, songs like "River Man" and "Cello Song" continue to resonate, showcasing his lasting influence on the folk music genre and inspiring countless artists.
