Earl Bostic, born on April 25, 1913, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a prominent American alto saxophonist renowned for his contributions to jazz, swing, jump blues, and rhythm and blues. After graduating from Xavier University in New Orleans, he established his own band in 1945, recording numerous hits that showcased his unique style. Some of his most notable songs include "Flamingo," "Harlem Nocturne," "Temptation," and "Sleep," which have left a lasting impact on the music world. Bostic's influence extended beyond his era, notably inspiring legendary saxophonist John Coltrane. His contributions to the music scene were recognized in 1993 when he was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as a significant figure in American music history.
