Eddy Senay is known for his hit "Hot Thang," which he released while with Sussex Records, a label established by Clarence Avant in December 1969. Sussex Records became notable for its association with Bill Withers, whose chart-topping song "Lean on Me" remains one of the label's most recognized releases. During its brief existence until 1975, Sussex also signed Sixto Rodriguez, celebrated for his impactful albums "Cold Fact" and "Coming from Reality." However, the label ultimately folded due to unpaid taxes, marking the end of an era that produced several memorable tracks, including "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Use Me."
