Emerson Lake and Palmer

Progressive rockart rock
Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) emerged from London in 1970, featuring the talents of Keith Emerson on keyboards, Greg Lake handling vocals and bass, and Carl Palmer on drums. The trio quickly made a name for themselves, especially after their captivating performance at the Isle of Wight Festival the same year. Their self-titled debut album reached No. 4 in the UK charts and marked the beginning of a prolific career that would see them sell around 48 million records worldwide, including nine gold albums in the US. Known for their ambitious compositions and fusion of rock with classical influences, ELP produced several notable tracks, such as "Lucky Man" and "Karn Evil 9." In the early 1970s, they established their own label, Manticore Records, which reflected their desire for artistic control. Although the band disbanded in 1979, they made partial reunions in the 1980s and again in 1991, culminating in their final performance at the High Voltage Festival in London in 2010.
