Why it matters
Foreigner, a British-American rock band, made its debut in 1976 and quickly rose to prominence with their self-titled album released on March 3, 1977. Mick Jones, the lead guitarist and one of the co-founders, alongside lead vocalist Lou Gramm, played pivotal roles in crafting the band's sound.
