Guadalcanal Diary emerged from Marietta, Georgia, in 1981, making a mark in the alternative jangle pop rock scene. The band, featuring Murray Attaway, Jeff Walls, Rhett Crowe, and John Poe, released four major label albums before disbanding in 1989. Their notable tracks include "Watusi Rodeo" and "Litany (Life Goes On)," showcasing their distinct sound and lyrical depth. In 1997, Guadalcanal Diary reunited and put out a live album, reviving their music for both old fans and new listeners. They celebrated their 30th anniversary with a temporary reunion in 2011 at Athfest. Tragically, Jeff Walls passed away on May 29, 2019, due to a rare pulmonary disease, marking a significant loss for the band and its community.
