Highway QCs

The Highway Q.C.'s, a revered American gospel group, has been a significant presence in the music scene for over 70 years. Established in Chicago in 1945, the ensemble was initially comprised of notable members such as Sam Cooke, Creadell Copeland, and Marvin Jones. Cooke's tenure with the group lasted until 1951, followed by Lou Rawls until 1953. After Rawls' departure, Johnnie Taylor joined, adding to the group's rich vocal harmonies. In 1956, Spencer Taylor took on the role of group leader, guiding their musical direction as they continued to perform in the jubilee quartet tradition. Throughout their long career, the Highway Q.C.'s have recorded for prominent labels including Savoy Records and A&M Records, leaving an enduring legacy in gospel music.
