Soul music
Hour Glass was a soul band that emerged in Los Angeles during the late 1960s, consisting of notable musicians Duane and Gregg Allman, who later achieved fame with the Allman Brothers Band. The group was formed from members of two earlier bands, The Allman Joys and the Men-its. In 1967, they recorded their self-titled debut album, "Hour Glass," which did not fully capture their musical essence. Their follow-up album, "Power of Love," released in 1968, also failed to make a significant impact. Despite recording tracks at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the band's efforts were ultimately rejected by Liberty Records. Among their notable songs are "Nothing But Tears" and "Power of Love." Following the disbandment of Hour Glass, both Duane and Gregg Allman went on to form the Allman Brothers Band, while Gregg briefly released music under the name "Gregg Allman and the Hour Glass."
