King Crimson originated in London in 1968, founded by a group that included Robert Fripp, Michael Giles, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, and Peter Sinfield. Over the years, the band has seen many lineup changes and periods of inactivity, but Fripp has been the sole constant member. Their debut album, "In the Court of the Crimson King," released in 1969, remains a landmark in progressive rock, noted for its commercial success and lasting influence. The band's diverse musical style blends elements from classical, jazz, folk, and heavy metal, evident in classic tracks like "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "Starless." After a hiatus, King Crimson reformed in 2013 as a septet, embarking on tours that continued until 2021. Their innovative sound has left a significant mark on the genre, inspiring bands such as Yes and Genesis. Known for their experimental approach, King Crimson continues to be a pivotal force in the evolution of progressive rock music.
