Klaatu was a Canadian rock band that emerged in the 1970s, known for their unique blend of progressive rock and pop influences. The group, featuring members John Woloschuk, Dee Long, and later Terry Draper, gained recognition for their innovative sound and were often likened to the Beatles, earning them the nickname "the Canadian Beatles." Their debut album, "3:47 EST," released in 1976, included memorable tracks such as "California Jam" and "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft." Although they did not perform live until 1981 during the promotion of their album "Magentalane," Klaatu left a lasting impact on the music scene with hits like "Knee Deep in Love" and "Sub-Rosa Subway." The band officially disbanded in August 1982, but their legacy continues to resonate with fans of classic rock.
