Los Bravos emerged from Madrid in 1965, bringing a fresh sound that resonated internationally. Their debut single, "Black Is Black," became a massive hit, climbing to No. 2 in the UK and No. 4 in the US, marking them as the first Spanish group to gain notable success in the American music scene. The band was formed by members of two previous groups, Los Sonor and The Runaways, with Mike Kogel, originally from Germany, serving as the charismatic lead vocalist known for his distinctive style. In addition to "Black Is Black," the band produced several other notable tracks, including "I Don't Care," "Bring a Little Lovin'," and "Gotta Be Strong." Their participation in the Sanremo Music Festival in 1967 showcased their talent on an international stage. The band's legacy was somewhat overshadowed by the passing of Miguel Vicens Danus in 2022, but their influence in the realm of pop and rock music remains significant.
