John David "Moon" Martin was a talented American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born on October 31, 1945, in Altus, Oklahoma. He began his music career as a rockabilly artist and was part of the band The Disciples, which later transitioned to Los Angeles and rebranded as Southwind. During his time with Southwind, they released three studio albums before disbanding in 1971. Martin found success in the 1970s as a pop artist, penning hits such as "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)" and "Cadillac Walk," and achieving five minor hits throughout the late '70s and early '80s. Martin's influence in the music scene continued until his passing on May 11, 2020, in Encino, California, at the age of 74. His legacy was honored with the posthumous release of the album "Midnight Moon" on what would have been his 77th birthday, October 31, 2022. His notable songs, including "Rolene," "X-Ray Vision," and "Signal for Help," showcase his diverse songwriting talent and enduring impact on pop music.
