The New York Dolls emerged from the vibrant music scene of New York City in the early 1970s. With their glam rock aesthetic and rebellious spirit, they released two influential albums: "New York Dolls" in 1973 and "Too Much Too Soon" in 1974. This classic lineup, featuring iconic members like David Johansen and Johnny Thunders, became known for their dynamic performances, including their first show at a homeless shelter on Christmas Eve 1971. Their music, including notable tracks like "Personality Crisis" and "Jet Boy," significantly contributed to the punk rock and glam punk movements. After disbanding in 1976, the Dolls reunited in 2004, producing three more albums before their final split in 2011. Their legacy is marked by their impact on artists such as Morrissey and Joan Jett, and despite the loss of all original members by 2025, their influence continues to resonate in the music world.
