Nino Rota was a prolific Italian composer, pianist, conductor, and academic, born in Milan on December 3, 1911. He is celebrated for his impactful film scores, especially his collaborations with renowned directors Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti. Among his most famous works is the music for the first two films in The Godfather trilogy, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Godfather Part II in 1974. Over his career, Rota created more than 150 film scores and composed ten operas and five ballets. Notable pieces from his repertoire include "What Is a Youth?" and "Go Milk the Moon." Additionally, he dedicated nearly three decades to directing the Liceo Musicale in Bari, further contributing to the musical landscape of Italy.
