Sam "The Man" Taylor, born Samuel Leroy Taylor, Jr. on July 12, 1916, in Lexington, Tennessee, was a prominent American tenor saxophonist known for his contributions to jazz, rhythm and blues, and blues. He honed his skills at Alabama State University and gained early experience playing with the Bama State Collegians.
