With original members Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, and Hiro Yamamoto, the band made waves with their debut album, "Ultramega OK," released in 1988. By the time of their fourth album, "Superunknown," they had reached new heights, landing at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Notable tracks like "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman" helped define their sound and solidify their legacy. After disbanding in 1997, Soundgarden reunited in 2010, continuing to influence the rock scene. Their contributions to music were recognized in 2025 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, affirming their status as pioneers in the genre.
