Sparks is a dynamic American pop and rock duo made up of brothers Ron and Russell Mael. Initially known as Halfnelson when they formed in 1968 in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, they quickly gained recognition for their unique blend of quirky songwriting and theatrical performances. Their hit song "This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us" peaked at No. 2 on the UK singles chart in 1974, marking a significant moment in their career. In 1979, they teamed up with Giorgio Moroder to produce the iconic disco tracks "The Number One Song in Heaven" and "Beat the Clock." Their 2002 album, "Lil' Beethoven," has been hailed as a genre-defining work, showcasing their innovative approach to music. Most recently, they won the César Award for Best Original Music for the songs written for the musical film "Annette." Their latest studio album, "The Girl Is Crying in Her Latte," was released on May 26, 2023, continuing their legacy of creativity and influence in the music industry.
