Styx, hailing from Chicago, Illinois, made their mark on the rock scene starting in 1972. The band is celebrated for their unique fusion of melodic hard rock and acoustic sounds, often incorporating elements of musical theatre into their work. The original lineup featured key members such as Dennis DeYoung, James 'J.Y.' Young, and brothers Chuck and John Panozzo. Their significant breakthrough came with the 1977 album "The Grand Illusion," which catapulted to No. 6 on the US charts and helped establish their place in rock history. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Styx achieved remarkable success, with eight songs reaching the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Notable tracks include "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," and their only No. 1 hit, "Babe," from the 1979 album "Cornerstone." Their album "Paradise Theatre" topped the charts in both the US and Canada in 1981, solidifying their status as a major force in the music industry. Styx has sold over 20 million records for A&M Records during their peak years from 1975 to 1984.
