The Five Stairsteps, often hailed as "The First Family of Soul," emerged from Chicago and comprised five of Betty and Clarence Burke Sr.'s six children. They gained significant recognition with their iconic hit "O-o-h Child," which soared to number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their musical journey included a partnership with Curtis Mayfield's Windy City label, and they briefly performed under the name Five Stairsteps & Cubie. In addition to "O-o-h Child," the group produced notable songs like "You Waited Too Long" and "A Million to One." After their initial success, they went on to create The Invisible Man's Band. The legacy of Clarence Burke Jr., who passed away on May 26, 2013, remains a significant part of their story.
