The Chieftains, a renowned traditional Irish folk band, originated in Dublin in 1962 under the leadership of Paddy Moloney, alongside Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their distinctive sound, heavily featuring uilleann pipes, is predominantly instrumental, showcasing the rich musical heritage of Ireland. Over the decades, they have achieved significant recognition, winning six Grammy Awards and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. In 1989, the Irish government honored them with the title of 'Ireland's Musical Ambassadors.' In celebration of their 50th anniversary, The Chieftains released the album "Voice of Ages" in 2012, further solidifying their legacy. Notable songs from their repertoire include "Have I Told You Lately," "I Know My Love," and "Women of Ireland." After the passing of co-founder Paddy Moloney in October 2021, the band embarked on their farewell tour, dubbed the 'Irish Goodbye Tour,' in 2019, marking a poignant chapter in their storied career.
