The Creepers emerged from Manchester's music scene in 1982, initially under the name Marc Riley and the Creepers, following Marc Riley's departure from The Fall. Their debut single "Favourite Sister" hit the airwaves in July 1983, showcasing their unique sound. The band released their first album, "Gross Out," in June 1984, followed by a second album titled "Fancy Meeting God" in March 1985. Over time, they simplified their name to The Creepers and continued to make waves with tracks like their cover of Brian Eno's "Baby's on Fire," which came out in May 1986. Throughout their career, The Creepers cultivated a distinctive style that resonated with fans, highlighted by notable songs such as "Jumper Clown" and "Brute." Their contributions to the rock genre have left a lasting impact, illustrating their evolution and creativity as a band during the vibrant era of the 1980s music scene.
