The Inmates

The Inmates emerged from the British pub rock scene in 1977, gaining recognition for their energetic sound and engaging performances. One of their most notable achievements came in 1982 when they released a cover of The Standells' classic "Dirty Water," which climbed to number 51 on the US charts in January 1980. Their debut album, "First Offence," produced by Vic Maile, showcased their distinctive style and set the stage for their future work. In addition to their studio efforts, the band recorded a live album titled "Meet the Beatles" in 1987, featuring covers of the legendary group’s songs. With Bill Hurley as the lead vocalist, the band saw some lineup changes, including Barrie Masters stepping in temporarily. As of 2013, most of the original members were still performing, and Peter Gunn even ventured into a solo career, releasing "Life Savings" in 2022. Other well-known tracks from the band include "The Walk," "So Much in Love," and "(I Thought I Heard A) Heartbeat."
