The Jags emerged from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in 1978, bringing a fresh sound to the British rock scene. The band featured Nicole Watkinson on vocals, alongside John Alder on guitar and backing vocals, with Steve Prudence and Michael Cotton on bass, Neil Whittaker or Alex Baird on drums, and Patrick O'Toole on piano and keyboards. They signed with Island Records in July of the same year and launched their career with a four-track EP in 1979. Their single "Back of My Hand" made an impact, reaching number 17 on the UK Singles Chart, and they followed this success with their debut album, "Evening Standards," released in 1980. The Jags continued to produce music with their second album, "No Tie Like a Present," in 1981. Despite their promising start, the band disbanded in 1982, leaving behind a legacy that includes notable tracks such as "Woman's World," "Party Games," and "I Never Was a Beachboy."
