Vanilla Fudge, originating from New York City, emerged in the music scene in 1967 and made a significant impact until their initial split in 1970. Known for their innovative hard rock renditions of popular songs, they gained fame with their hit single "You Keep Me Hangin' On" in 1968. The original lineup, featuring Mark Stein, Tim Bogert, Vince Martell, and Carmine Appice, contributed to the band's unique sound that blends elements of psychedelia and heavy metal, earning them recognition as a proto-prog band. After several reunions throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Vanilla Fudge reformed full-time in 1999, continuing to share their music with fans. Their discography includes five albums, showcasing their ability to reinterpret classics like "Ticket to Ride" and "Eleanor Rigby." Sadly, Tim Bogert's passing in 2021 marked a poignant moment in the band's history, but their legacy endures through their influential sound and memorable hits.
