Whodini emerged in the early 1980s as a pioneering American hip-hop group, consisting of vocalist Jalil Hutchins, co-vocalist John Fletcher, also known as Ecstasy, and DJ Drew Carter, or Grandmaster Dee. They made a significant impact on the music scene by blending rap with R&B elements, a groundbreaking approach at the time. Their debut single, "Magic's Wand," holds a unique place in music history as the first rap song to feature a music video. Throughout their career, Whodini released six studio albums, with four achieving Platinum status from the RIAA, and they charted fourteen singles on Billboard. Notable tracks like "Freaks Come Out at Night" and "Friends" showcased their innovative style. Additionally, they toured alongside legendary artists such as Run-DMC and LL Cool J, solidifying their influence in hip-hop. In recognition of their contributions, Whodini was honored at the 4th VH1 Hip Hop Honors in 2007.
