Bill Monroe – The Best Of Bill Monroe

Bill Monroe’s name is inseparable from bluegrass: the music takes its name from his Blue Grass Boys, who named the band for the bluegrass of Monroe’s Kentucky home. The Best Of Bill Monroe is a natural entry point into the work of the mandolinist, singer, and songwriter long known as the Father of Bluegrass. Monroe described bluegrass as drawing on old-time fiddling, church traditions, blues, jazz, and a “high lonesome sound,” which helps explain why his records still feel so rooted and distinctive. This is a vintage 1975 vinyl pressing, with both records graded VG+. That’s a strong everyday grade: expect a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs, but not wear that should dominate the music. At $12, this is an affordable Bill Monroe vinyl set with solid condition appeal and foundational bluegrass value.
