Carly Simon – Hotcakes

Hotcakes finds Carly Simon turning domestic autobiography into pop craft, with songs written around marriage and the start of family life. Released by Elektra in 1974, it was her fourth studio album and reunited her with producer Richard Perry after No Secrets, giving it a natural place beside her best-known early-’70s work. The Ed Caraeff cover photo of Simon pregnant in a maternity dress ties directly into that personal frame, giving the record visual as well as musical period character. This is a 1974 vintage vinyl pressing priced at $10, and at under $15 it’s an affordable Carly Simon copy with the right era attached. The record is graded VG+, a strong everyday listening grade where a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs may be expected, but not wear that should dominate the music.
