The Best Of Carly Simon gathers some of the singer-songwriter’s most memorable work, including “You’re So Vain” and “Haven’t Got Time For The Pain,” showcasing her knack for blending intimate storytelling with soft rock sensibilities. Produced by Richard Perry, the album benefits from the subtle orchestral touches arranged by Kirby Johnson and Paul Buckmaster, while the presence of congas from Eddie "Bongo" Brown and Ray Cooper adds a nuanced rhythmic layer. Carly’s voice and songwriting sit comfortably alongside contributions from James Taylor, making this compilation a rich snapshot of her mid-’70s artistry. This 1979 pressing on Elektra offers a well-preserved listening experience, with the vinyl in glossy condition showing only minor surface light marks typical of careful use. The catalog number 6E-109 helps identify this edition, and the artwork by Glen Christensen and Albert Mackenzie Watson provides a tasteful visual complement to the music. If you’re after a focused listening record that blends pop and soft rock with a singer-songwriter’s intimate touch, this copy stands ready to deliver—no secrets here, just a clean groove and a well-curated selection.
