Very Young And Early Songs collects a set of Cat Stevens tracks from before he embraced the name Yusuf Islam, capturing a period when his songwriting leaned into introspective folk-pop that would resonate with fans of James Taylor and Simon and Garfunkel. Songs like "Here Comes My Wife" and "Lovely City" reveal a tender, youthful perspective, while "It's A Super Duper Life" adds a bit of whimsy to the mix. This compilation offers a glimpse into the formative years of an artist who later explored a wide range of styles, making it a quiet but worthwhile listen for those interested in the roots of his songwriting. This 1972 pressing on vinyl presents the album in a format that suits the era and style, with a clean, glossy surface that shows only minor light scuffs typical of careful use. Its VG++ condition means it should play smoothly without distracting noise, allowing the subtle nuances of Stevens’ early work to come through. For collectors who appreciate the early days of British singer-songwriters, this record fits neatly alongside similar voices of the time—though it might require a bit more patience than the more polished offerings from his later career. A record that quietly reminds you how even the most thoughtful artists had a "Very Young" phase. Very Young And Early Songs - Vinyl, LP, Compilation.
