The Best Of Basie gathers a selection of Count Basie & His Orchestra’s more focused, acoustic ensemble moments, offering a chance to appreciate the band's refined swing in intimate settings. This compilation features timeless tunes like "Satin Doll," "Shiny Stockings," and "I'm Beginning to See the Light," each illustrating Basie’s knack for balancing elegance with rhythmic drive. The collection stands apart by highlighting a quieter side of Basie’s sound, one that invites concentrated listening rather than big-band spectacle. This 1962 pressing presents a vintage snapshot of Basie’s work in a straightforward vinyl format that fits neatly in any jazz enthusiast’s library. The record shows a very good plus condition, meaning it plays well with some expected light surface marks and minor scuffs that won’t overshadow the music. It’s the kind of record that feels at home on a turntable without demanding special treatment—ready to slot in where a touch of Basie’s finesse is called for. After all, even in an orchestra this size, every note counts.
