The album’s production, shaped by the duo themselves and engineer Neil Kernon, highlights Daryl Hall’s skill on mandoguitar, synthesizer, and vocoder, lending a textured yet accessible sound. Tracks like "You Make My Dreams" and "Kiss On My List" showcase their knack for catchy melodies without sacrificing musical craftsmanship, making Voices a natural fit for fans who appreciate smart songwriting wrapped in smooth arrangements. It’s a record that balances radio-friendly hooks with a subtle artistry—not to mention it’s a neat reminder that pop can wear its sophistication lightly. This 1980 RCA Victor pressing carries the catalog number AQL1-3646 and features a lacquer cut by Bob Ludwig, which collectors often note for its clear, well-defined grooves. The vinyl here rates at VG+, indicating a solid listen with only minor surface marks or paper scuffs that don’t interfere with playback. It’s the kind of copy that lets you enjoy the album’s warm production and intricate layers without worry, a practical choice for anyone adding a reliable, vintage pop rock record to their collection. After all, not every voice on vinyl needs to be loud—sometimes it just needs to be heard clearly.
