John Oates steps forward on Past Times Behind, a 1977 collection that ventures into a quieter, more introspective side of the Hall & Oates partnership. This album leans on acoustic arrangements and a focused listening experience, with tracks like "A Lot Of Changes Comin" and "Deep River Blues" revealing a thoughtful, rootsy sensibility. It offers a contrast to the duo’s more polished pop hits, making it a rewarding listen for those curious about the subtle textures beneath their mainstream success. The album’s intimate feel is a reminder that even in a duo famous for chart-toppers, there’s room to explore quieter stories. This pressing from 1977 presents Past Times Behind on vinyl with glossy surfaces showing only minor, faint marks consistent with careful use. The VG++ grade means you’ll find very clean playback without distractions, a neat fit for anyone who appreciates the album’s understated charm and wants a solid copy to spin. It’s the kind of record where the acoustic ensemble setting invites you to lean in close—no background noise needed, just the music and a bit of company. Daryl Hall. John Oates* - Past Times Behind.
