Eddie Murphy’s "Comedian" stands out as a snapshot of early ’80s stand-up comedy, where his sharp wit and charismatic delivery made this record a touchstone for fans of humor on vinyl. The album features Murphy’s own writing and production alongside collaborators Richard Tienken and Robert Wachs, with engineering by Jim Crotty and Mike Shoskes providing clear sound that lets every punchline land. Tracks like "Sexual Prime" and "The Fart Game" showcase his fearless take on social commentary, while "The Barbecue" and "Languages" reveal his knack for observational humor that still reads fresh nearly four decades later. The cover art by Nancy Greenberg and Lynn Goldsmith adds a visual flair that complements Murphy’s larger-than-life persona—proof that a comedian’s image can be as carefully crafted as the jokes. This 1983 Columbia pressing offers a vinyl experience that’s clean and glossy, with only minor surface marks typical of gentle handling, so it’s ready to entertain without distraction. The focused listening style of the album makes it a unique find for those who appreciate stand-up as an art form on record, rather than background noise. If you’re looking to add a piece of comedy history to your collection, this copy’s condition and straightforward vintage pressing make it a solid choice—because not every laugh needs to be digital these days, sometimes you want it in grooves you can see.

Sound samples are included to help you get a feel for the music, but they may not always match the exact pressing or track version of the record listed. When in doubt, trust the photos and pressing information - that's the actual record you're buying.
