Eddie Palmieri’s self-titled Fania album is often nicknamed the “White Album” for its stark, minimalist cover, a visual turn that makes it easy to spot in the salsa bins. Musically, it draws on Palmieri’s command of salsa and jazz-informed Latin arranging, with guest vocal power from Ismael Quintana and Cheo Feliciano, both connected to his 1960s work. Palmieri was already a major bandleader by this point, with La Perfecta and Harlem River Drive behind him, and that history gives the record weight beyond a standard Fania-era date. This is a 1981 vintage vinyl pressing priced at $28, a nice copy for someone who wants a period Eddie Palmieri record.
