Elton John- Madman Across The Water-LP

Elton John – Madman Across The Water

Madman Across The Water catches Elton John in a remarkably busy 1971 stretch, when his profile was rising fast and his partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin was already central to the work. This fourth studio album is also notable as John’s first progressive rock album, with Gus Dudgeon among the producers and Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman adding Hammond organ on a couple of cuts. It’s a weightier early-catalog Elton record, appealing if you like the grander, more ambitious side of his early writing. This is a 1971 vintage vinyl pressing priced at $22, giving the copy nice period appeal without making any unsupported claims about first-press status. The record is graded VG+, a strong everyday listening grade where a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs may be present, but not wear that should dominate the music. The main draw here is a same-year Elton John pressing of a key early album in a solid usable grade.
