George Benson – Good King Bad

George Benson’s Good King Bad includes “Theme from Good King Bad,” which won the Grammy for Best R&B Instrumental Performance in 1977. Produced by Creed Taylor and recorded at Van Gelder Studio, the album lands right in Benson’s jazz-funk/fusion period, with players such as Eric Gale, Don Grolnick, and David Sanborn adding to the polished CTI feel. “Cast Your Fate to the Wind,” originally by Vince Guaraldi, also gives the record a nice bridge back to classic jazz material. This is a 1976 vinyl pressing of the album, matching the original release year but not described here as a vintage pressing. At $12, this is an affordable George Benson vinyl copy with real album appeal. The record is graded VG+, a strong everyday listening grade where a few light lines, sleeve marks, or small scuffs may be present, but not wear that should dominate the music.
