Grace Jones’s Portfolio stands as a vivid introduction to her unique fusion of disco rhythms and theatrical flair, highlighted by her cover of “La Vie En Rose” which reimagines the classic with a bold, sultry edge. The album leans into a focused listening experience, featuring an acoustic small ensemble that complements Jones’s commanding vocal presence and sets her apart from her disco contemporaries. Tracks like “I Need A Man” and “Send In The Clowns” showcase her ability to blend cabaret sensibilities with danceable grooves, making Portfolio a distinctive statement early in her career. This 1977 vinyl pressing offers a solid window into that era’s sound and style, presented here in a VG+ condition that suggests it has been well cared for but carries the usual light surface marks typical of regular play. The record’s condition means you can appreciate its grooves without distraction, though it’s not a collector’s mint. If you’re looking to explore Grace Jones’s beginnings or add a well-preserved disco-era gem to your collection, this Portfolio pressing slots in nicely—proof that sometimes, first impressions on vinyl can be as striking as the artist herself.

Sound samples are included to help you get a feel for the music, but they may not always match the exact pressing or track version of the record listed. When in doubt, trust the photos and pressing information - that's the actual record you're buying.
