Harry Chapin's Heads and Tales offers a compelling mix of storytelling and melodic craft, spotlighting songs like "Taxi" and "Could You Put Your Light On" that showcase his knack for vivid narratives set to acoustic arrangements. The album unfolds with a focused, intimate ensemble featuring cello, congas, and thoughtful production from Jac Holzman, all framed by Bruce Morgan's engineering and Fred Kewley's arrangements. The presence of musicians like Russ Kunkel on congas and Tim Scott on cello adds subtle texture that deepens the listening experience without crowding Chapin's distinctive voice and guitar work. This reissue on Specialty Records Corporation brings that early ’70s singer-songwriter vibe to vinyl enthusiasts with care, presented here in a vinyl condition that reflects everyday listening—expect some light surface marks that shouldn’t interfere noticeably with play. The VG+ grade signals a record that’s been handled but remains solid for regular enjoyment, making it a practical pick for those drawn to acoustic storytelling and classic songwriting. It’s the sort of record that might quietly demand a spot near your coffee table rather than the back of the shelf—because some tales deserve to be heard more than once.

Sound samples are included to help you get a feel for the music, but they may not always match the exact pressing or track version of the record listed. When in doubt, trust the photos and pressing information - that's the actual record you're buying.
