Kai Winding - Modern Country - LP

Modern Country stands out as a 1964 exploration by jazz trombonist Kai Winding, who takes classic country tunes and reimagines them through a jazz lens. Recorded in Nashville with members of The Nashville A-Team, this album blends the precision of top-tier session players with Winding’s inventive approach, offering a crossover that’s more than just a genre experiment—it’s a meeting of musical minds. The album’s four-star AllMusic rating reflects its quality and the thoughtful way it bridges two distinct American traditions, making it a unique find for those interested in the intersections of jazz and country. This 1964 vinyl pressing delivers that intriguing blend on a sturdy format, with a condition that falls into a strong everyday listening category. Expect some light surface marks or paper scuffs common for its age, yet nothing that should interfere with the grooves or the music’s flow. If you’re organizing your collection by genre, this one might cause a bit of friendly debate about where it belongs—jazz, country, or somewhere comfortably in between. Unknown Artist.
