Molly Hatchet – Flirtin With Disaster

Molly Hatchet’s Flirtin’ with Disaster arrived in 1979 as the Southern rock band’s second studio album and quickly became their biggest commercial statement. The title track, “Flirtin’ with Disaster,” became the band’s most popular song and reached No. 42 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in March 1980. The album also reached No. 19 on the US Billboard 200 and earned 2× Platinum certification from the RIAA, giving this record a strong place in late-’70s Southern rock history. Produced by Tom Werman and Pat Armstrong, it was recorded between Bee Jay Recording Studios in Orlando and Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles. Frank Frazetta’s Dark Kingdom cover art adds another memorable piece of period identity to the album.
