Hey! Let’s Party by Mongo Santamaria delivers a vibrant blend of jazz and Latin rhythms, arranged with finesse by Marty Sheller and Robert Mersey. The album features Santamaria’s signature membranophone work alongside Carmelo Garcia’s timbales, creating a lively acoustic ensemble sound that invites focused listening. Tracks like "Walk On By," "In The Mood," and "Baila Dance" showcase the group’s rhythmic precision and spirited interplay, while the cover art by Bob Cato adds a stylish visual touch that complements the music’s infectious energy. This vinyl pressing offers a solid listen with a VG+ grade, meaning you can expect some light surface marks or scuffs typical of regular use but nothing that should interfere significantly with playback. Though the pressing details are unknown, the record stands as a fine example of Santamaria’s work from the late 1960s, produced by Robert Mersey and punctuated by Stan Levine’s liner notes. It’s the kind of record that might encourage you to clear a little dance floor space—even if it’s just in your living room.
